Why didn’t I think of this?

Posterous is a dead-simple blogging platform.

Posterous is a dead-simple blogging platform.

Stumbled across this tonight whilst reading at MetaFilter.

Posterous is a blogging platform that requires only one thing: An email address. The concept is so simple, it makes you wonder why no one’s thought of it before.

Email a photo, video or plain old text email to post@posterous.com, and Posterous posts it for you at your own unique URL. URLs within your email are automatically converted to links within the text.

You don’t even have to sign up for an account — your first email creates your account for you. All you gotta do is use the same email address for all subsequent posts and they get published under that URL.

Posterous automatically transcodes video files and resizes images to web-friendly dimensions.

Surem, the idea of emailing posts to blogs has been around for almost as long as WordPress and other bloggin platforms. But to email a post to a server-based WordPress blog, you gotta go through all the hassle of setting up the blog software, configuring settings, etc.

If you’re looking for a quick and dirty way to set up a blog, this may be the ticket to doing so.
